Palaces in South India attract tourists from all over India as well as from all over the world.


India is the largest country of the Indian subcontinent. The Indian civilization dates back to the time of the Indus Valley civilization, and beyond. Mysore Palace is one of the most famous palaces in South India . You will find this famous palace on Mirza Road, in Mysore. This famous palace was the official home of the royal family of the state of Mysore, and at the same time this magnificent edifice was also used for official purposes. A number of royal offices were based in this famous palace. This palace ranks among one of the largest palaces in the country, and it is also known as the Amba Vilas. The palace is a major tourist attraction due to its artistic magnificence.


The Padmanabhapuram Palace is another of the many palaces in South India. The palace is to be found inside a fort premise. The fortress is made of granite. The palace belonged to the royal family of Travancore, in Kerala. The palace is not too far from Trivandrum, and is on the route to Kanya Kumari from Kerala. Though the palace is to be found in Tamil Nadu, the royal family belonged to Kerala. This is because, the borders of these states were not the same as they are today. The palace is an excellent example of the architectural style of Kerala.


Another famous South Indian Palace is the Thirumalai Nayakkar Palace or Mahal, that is to be found in the state of Tamil Nadu. This palace belongs to the Nayaka dynasty of Tamil Nadu. It was built way back in 1636 AD. Interestingly, the palace is said to have been designed by an Italian architect.


The Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad, in Andhra Pradesh, is one of the finest examples of architecture to be found in this region. The palace is located on a hill, that rises to a height of two thousand meters. The palace is only five kilometers from the famous Charminar Monument.


The Falaknuma Palace was constructed by an Italian architect, under the Nawab Vikar Ul Umrah. The palace is built from a fine quality of Italian marble. The palace is famous for its rich wealth, and its amazing jade collection is famous all over the world. The Falaknuma Palace is a major tourist attraction.
